  • NEW PE KIT!! (Extended date to order)

    July 2020

    Dear Parent/carer

I hope you and your family are keeping well.
Next year we are changing the way we get ready for PE. This decision has been made in consultation with children, parents and staff.

There will be a small change to the kit required, as children will wear their ‘PE uniform’ on the days they have PE.  Children will gain time in lessons by not having to change into and out of their kit, they will avoid losing and mixing up kits in the process and, for older children, will remove any embarrassment/apprehension of having to get changed in front of class members.

The new kit comprises of a navy blue sweatshirt and joggers, navy shorts (worn underneath the joggers) and a plain white t-shirt. Your child will also need plain black trainers.  NO LOGOs please.

We are able to provide the new kit, excluding trainers, for £10 per child, which I’m sure you will agree is very reasonable.
If you would like to purchase the kit from school, please complete the attached form indicating the size required and return via email to c.salkeld@stoneyholme-pri.lancs.sch.uk  by Friday 31st July. Kits will be distributed on our return to school in September.

Please email your order with details below ...

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING RETURNING TO SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER

    Fri 24 Jul 2020
    July 2020
    Dear parents/carers

I hope you and your family are all safe and well.

I am sure you are aware that the Government is planning for all children to return to school in September.  Due to the fact that COVID_19 is still a threat, this plan comes with restrictions and specific guidance that we must follow.  We are still waiting for a Risk Assessment to be issued by the Local Authority and if the infection rate changes at any point between now and then; this will affect how we open to ensure the safety of your children, your family, our staff and their families.  What I am able to tell you at this point in time is:

    • Classes will be taught in a ‘bubble’.  Each bubble will be kept separate from all other bubbles in school to limit the transmission of the virus across larger numbers of children/staff.
    • There will be different start and finish times for different groups to limit the number of children and adults arriving and leaving the school at the same time.
    • Children will need to be brought to school by an adult (over 18) to help maintain social distancing on the way to and from school and on the school grounds.
    • Adults will not be able to come into school unless prior arrangements have been made.
    • Enhanced cleaning procedures will be in place.  Each learning area has a cleaning station and shared areas, such as toilets, dining hall etc. will be cleaned before a different bubble has to use them.
    • Children will be taught in their classrooms (or outside as much as possible) and movement around school will be kept to a minimum.
    • Social distancing measures, appropriate to the age of the children will be in place.
    • Sharing of resources will be limited, children will be given their own stationery packs etc. and where sharing is unavoidable, thorough cleaning will take place.
    • Additional sinks and sanitisers (with World Health Organisation recommended gel) have been placed around school.  Children will wash their hands each time they enter or leave their classroom and regularly throughout the day.

We will contact each of you in due course to give you the final details about your child’s return.  The start of term is WEDNESDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER when we look forward to welcoming all of the children in Year 1 -6 back to school.

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing the transition work your child has completed (this will help them to settle into their new class) and look out for news about our exciting Summer School Challenge on the website!

    Take care and stay safe!

  • SUMMER SCHOOL... MISSION POSSIBLE!!

    Fri 24 Jul 2020 MRS L DAVISON

Stoneyholme Community Primary Summer School Challenge MISSION POSSIBLE

CONGRATULATIONS! You have been specially selected to take part in MISSION POSSIBLE.  We have designed a wide variety of exciting challenges for you and your family to take part in over the summer holidays. At school, you will remember that we learn about wellbeing and why it is very important in all of our lives.  These projects focus on the 5 wells of wellbeing, but most of all they are fun!

Connect: Spend time with family and friends; this will enrich your day.  This helps our emotional wellbeing

Be Active: Being active makes you feel good.  Get moving – exercise, dance, sing, go for a walk, a run or a bike ride. Move your mood. This helps our physical wellbeing.

Keep Learning: Try something new, this can be fun and can make you feel good and build your confidence.  This helps our emotional wellbeing.

Take notice: Take time for yourself.  Notice the things around you, reflect on how your surroundings make you feel and find joy in the simple things.  This helps our spiritual wellbeing.

Give: Be kind to others and yourself.  Simple acts of kindness can make you feel happier.  This helps our emotional wellbeing.

Choose a project, follow the instructions on how to send in your entry and you could earn a certificate for your efforts!  Test, exams and qualifications can earn different levels, PASS, MERIT or DISTINCTION.

PASS: You have tried hard to complete the challenge and sent in an entry.

MERIT: You have completed the challenge to a good standard and have included many of the details asked for, showing a lot of effort, care and attention.

DISTINCTION: You have completed the challenge to an excellent standard, including all of the details asked for, showing maximum effort, care and attention.

Each challenge has success criteria explaining what you will need to do to achieve each level.

If you send in SIX or more entries and achieve at least a PASS for each, your name will go into a prize draw.  One lucky person’s name will be chosen at random and they will win a prize of £100!  IT COULD BE YOU!

If you send in SIX or more entries and you achieve at least ONE DISTINCTION certificate, your name will go into a prize draw and one person from each age group will win £50 each!

A huge thank you to GREGGS BAKERY for their very generous donation for our summer activities.
