Year 2

Reading outside the classroom

We are learning all about birds in English. We have been writing non-chronological reports about owls together and have applied our knowledge to write reports about other nocturnal animals.

What we know

We have been reading lots of traditional tales, learning about the characters and the repetitive language they use. We have also been reading tales with a twist and exploring what is similar and different. Part of our learning has been to learn a story to tell to write our own version.

We have linked our learning to Science and Maths when we have grown beanstalks to help the giant return to his castle.

We have linked our learning with Geography, History, Art and Computing when learning about polar explorers whilst reading The Great Explorer.
