Year 2

Athletics

In Athletics, we will focus on skills such as running, jumping, and throwing. We will demonstrate underarm and overarm throwing aiming for consistent accuracy and distance using various targets. We will also develop different techniques to jump whilst maintaining balance and control and, use different obstacles to improve our speed and agility for our running.

Orienteering
In Orienteering, we will follow our Whole School Cross-Curricular Orienteering Scheme of Work. We will use a legend/key on a map to help us understand basic symbols and colours and, use our navigation skills to move forward, backwards, left and right. We will work individually and as a team to recognise, orientate and follow our School Orienteering map to complete challenges.

Gymnastics 

In Gymnastics, we will develop skills of travelling on hands and feet, explore balancing on different body parts and perform rolling actions. We will link these actions together to create a simple sequence and adapt a sequence of moves to apparatus.

Dance

In Dance, we will explore, remember, repeat and link a range of actions with control and co-ordination. We will show relationships between two characters and, recognise and describe how different activities make us feel. We will link sequences together to retell a story linked with Antarctica.

FMS: Bounce Ball

We will be learning to bounce a ball with some control and accuracy. We will use this skill to bounce a ball and pass, with some accuracy, and move into a space in a simple game. 

Striking and Fielding: Cricket

We will be developing the skill of throwing overarm for distance, striking a ball, fielding a ball and then applying these skills in a simple game.
