The badge for March: Bicycle

This bicycle was invented in 1871 and was nicknamed the penny farthing because of its large front wheel and smaller back wheel, which resembled the largest and smallest coins of the time.
Do you remember seeing one on the visit to Towneley Hall?

To see how bicycles have changed through time in Stoneyholme, please could you email a photo of you or an older member of your family on a bike to Miss Cock or Mrs Ayres on Purple Mash.
