Create and Code

LC : To create a cooling fan with separate speeds and explore 'what if' questions to design different solutions for external devices.

Engineers solve problems.

Your first challenge today is to create a cooling fan then code your fan with three separate settings to control the speed of the motor.

You will connect your iPad to the device via Bluetooth.

What type of technology is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology standard that is used for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances using UHF radio waves.

Take a picture of your cooling fan and your code to be uploaded to seesaw.

'What if' Questions

Your next challenge is to design a solution for the two separate 'what if' questions. Ask your teacher for the extra pieces of equipment.

Question 1 : What if someone was to injure themselves whilst operating your cooling fan? How can you prevent this from happening by designing a safety feature into your original design?

Take a picture of your redesigned cooling fan and your code to be uploaded to seesaw.

Question 2 : What if the cooling fan was installed out of reach? How can you redesign your program so the fan can be controlled without manually activating it?

Take a picture of your redesigned cooling fan and your code to be uploaded to seesaw.

Once you have completed all the activities upload all your pictures to the seesaw activity.
