You have done an amazing job this week practising doubling numbers.

Today we are going to use what you have learnt to help you to work out 'near double' calculations.

Let’s think about which double you could use to work out this calculation.

6 + 7 =

I used double 6.

6 + 6 then I had to add the 1 (because 7 is 1 more than 6)

6 + 6 + 1 =

12 + 1 = 13
