How can you use your times table facts to work out 48 ÷ 3 ?
1) We can partition 48 so that it is easier to divide by 3.
48 = 30 + 18
2) Now we can divide 30 and 18 by 3, which are multiples of 3.
30 ÷ 3 = 10
18 ÷ 3 = 6
3) Now we can recombine 10 + 6 = 16.
So, 48 ÷ 3 = 16
