In Talking Maths this week, we will be looking at time.
Today, we are going to look at some word problems.
Example
Susan practised her dance for 45 minutes. She started her practice at 4:50pm. What time did she finish?
Susan finishes practising at 5:35pm
Work out the following word problems using a method we have learnt this week.
1. Maths starts at 10.25 and lasts for 45 minutes. At what time does Maths finish?
2. Science lasts for 55 minutes and ends at 3.30. At what time does Science start?
3. Class 3 needs to get to the museum at 11.10. It is a 25minute walk from school to the museum. At what time must Class 3 leave school if they are to arrive at the museum at exactly 11.10?
4.Lucy left home at 10:35am. She spent 10 minutes walking to Stacey’s house and then stayed with Stacey for 20 minutes. Lucy then spent another 10 minutes walking home. At what time did Lucy arrive home?
5. Paul caught a train to Liverpool at 1.25 pm. The journey lasted 55 minutes. At what time did Paul arrive in Liverpool?
