In Talking Maths this week, we will be looking at time.
How many minutes are there in an hour?
Remember, 60 minutes = 1 hour.
What time is it 25 minutes after 11:50am?
We need to first add an amount of minutes until we reach 60 minutes.
50 + ? = 60.
The answer is 10.
We then subtract this from the time we are adding
25 - 10 = 15
This tells us the amount of minutes after the hour we have.
So our answer ends with 15 minutes past the hour.
Remember, you need to add 1 to the hours because you have gone past 60 minutes.
11:50am + 25 minutes = 12:15am
