Spelling

We are learning to add the suffix 'ness' to an adjective to make a noun.

 

Remember an adjective is a word that describes a noun.

 

A noun is the name of a thing.

 

 

 

There are lots of adjectives in English that we can convert into nouns by using 'ness'.

A noun ending in 'ness' literally means the state of the root adjective.

For example, hungriness means ‘the feeling of being hungry.

soft - softness

 

 

 

Let's practise spelling words with the suffix 'ness'.

 

Write each word 3 times in your handwriting book.
