A mechanism is a device that makes work easier to do by allowing a smaller force to have a greater effect.
Can you identify how the mechanisms below can make work easier?
There are different types of mechanisms. We are going to be focusing on these three; a pulley, a gear and a lever.
In groups of 3, you are going to move around the class and find information about your given mechanism. Each person in your group, will be given a different mechanism. Add information about your mechanism onto your sheet and then share your information with the rest of your group so they can complete the missing sections on their sheet.

We are going to have a go at making our own pulley mechanism.
To make this, we will need:
A plastic cup
A piece of string
A pencil.
