Reading

Over the last few weeks, we have been looking at different types of questions which show that we have understood what we have read.

Today we are going to look for clues in the question itself which will help us find the answer, quickly.

Let's read this paragraph:

If the question asks, What does Liam listen to when he works outside all day long? then the important word is listen. To find the answer to the question, we need to go back to the text and look quickly for the word listen. We do not need to read it all again, just the important information around the word.

Your answer to this question would be birds.

Let's try that again.

What can Liam look at when he works outside all day long?

Go back to the text, find the words look at and read the important information around those words.

Your answer should be beautiful trees and plants.

Let's see if you can do it without any help this time.

Which area of the park does Liam keep particularly nice for visitors?

Now it's your turn to answer questions about a new text. If you are Miss Cock's Superstars, you will be working with your teacher to answer the questions.

When you have finished, there is a project on myON called "Turtles and Dragons" for you to read.
