PSHCE

The poem we learned last week called All of Me was all about different body parts.

Today we are going to learn more about body parts, including those we should keep private.

As a Rights Respecting School, we believe children across the globe have unconditional rights and that Duty Bearers must do all they can to respect these rights.

Today we are going to focus on two of these rights:

Article 16: Every child has the right to privacy, which is protected by law.

Article 19: All children should be protected from any form of harm or bad treatment.

Do you know the name of your body parts?

If you are working in class, we are going to share these now. If you are working at home, talk to an adult in your house.

Have you ever heard the PANTS rule?

Don't worry, Mrs Fernandes and Miss Rycroft haven't gone completely mad. There is a catchy song to help you remember. Listen now.

Let's take a look at the important information we have learned from the song.

What's the difference between good and bad touching?

Playing tig with your friends or hugging your grandparents can be seen as appropriate or 'good' touching as you both give permission. Sometimes, it might be necessary for doctors or nurses to see private parts of your body to give you medical help, but they should ALWAYS have permission from your parents.

If somebody makes you feel uncomfortable by asking to see or touching your private body parts ('bad' touching), then it is the right thing to do to speak to an adult you trust.

At home, this might be an adult in your house.

At school, it could be a member of staff in class or on the yard.

You can ALWAYS share your worries with the Worry Monster.

Remember, speak up- someone can help!!

Now it's your turn to share what you know about the PANTS rule to help others. Complete this 2DO on Purple Mash.
