2-digit by 1-digit Multiplication with Renaming

How to multiply a two digit number by a one digit number.

Multiply the ones place digits (3 x 5 = 15).
Place the 5 below the line in the ones column.

Then, rename the 10 ones as 1 ten. Place this under or in the tens column.

Multiply the digit in the tens column (3) by the digit in the ones place of the second number (3).
The result is 3 x 3 = 9.

Now, add the 1 that we renamed.

9 + 1 = 10.

Because there is no number in the hundreds column, we can place the answer below the line to the left of the 5.
