When dividing any number, we start from the highest valued digit.
In 2-digit numbers this would be the tens.
For this, you will need your 4 times tables.
How many 4s fit into the number 8?
The answer is 2.
We write the answer (2) above the ‘bus stop’ in the tens column.
How many 4s fit into the number 4?
The answer is 1.
We write the answer (1) above the ‘bus stop’ in the ones column.
This means, 84 divided by 4 = 21.
