3-digit by 1-digit Multiplication

 

When multiplying 3-digit by a 1-digit number, multiply each of the digits in the 3-digit number by the 1-digit number (multiplier) , starting with the Ones.


 

 

Multiply the ones digit(0 x 2 = 0).
Place the 0 below the line in the ones' place column.



 

Multiply the digit in the tens' place column (1) by the

the second number (2).
The result is 1 x 2 = 2.

Place the answer (2) below the line in the tens column.


 
 

Multiply the digit in the hundreds place column (3) by the second number (2).
The result is 3 x 2 = 6.

Place the answer (6) below the line in the hundreds column.

 

Log onto Seesaw and complete the Activity ‘3-digit by 1-digit Multiplication’.
