2-digit by 1-digit Multiplication

 

How to multiply a two digit number by a one digit number
(for example 43 x 2).

Multiply the ones' place digit (3 x 2 = 6).
Place the six below the line in the ones' place column.


 43

x 2
  6

Multiply the digit in the tens' place column (4) by the digit in the ones' place of the bottom number (2).
The result is 4 x 2 = 8.

Place the answer below the line in the tens place.

 86
