Multiplying Three Numbers

How to multiply three numbers:

  • Multiply the first number by the second number.
  • Multiply the product of the first multiplication by the third number.

Example

2 x 7 x 9

Step 1 - 2 x 7 = 14

Step 2 - 14 x 9 = 126

2 x 7 x 9 = 126

When multiplying 3 digits, we can multiply the numbers in any order.

Whichever order we complete them in, we get the same answer.

Example

5 x 6 x 2

Step 1 - 5 x 6 = 30

Step 2 - 30 x 2 = 60

5 x 6 x 2 = 60

Step 1 - 5 x 2 = 10

Step 2 - 10 x 6 = 60

5 x 6 x 2 = 60

Step 1 - 6 x 2 = 12

Step 2 - 12 x 5 = 60

5 x 6 x 2 = 60
