Multiplying Three Numbers
How to multiply three numbers:
- Multiply the first number by the second number.
- Multiply the product of the first multiplication by the third number.
Example
2 x 7 x 9
Step 1 - 2 x 7 = 14
Step 2 - 14 x 9 = 126
2 x 7 x 9 = 126
When multiplying 3 digits, we can multiply the numbers in any order.
Whichever order we complete them in, we get the same answer.
Example
5 x 6 x 2 | ||
Step 1 - 5 x 6 = 30
Step 2 - 30 x 2 = 60
5 x 6 x 2 = 60 | Step 1 - 5 x 2 = 10
Step 2 - 10 x 6 = 60
5 x 6 x 2 = 60 | Step 1 - 6 x 2 = 12
Step 2 - 12 x 5 = 60
