Compare the dogs and bones below. Are there more dogs than bones or are there fewer dogs than bones? 

Remember it is easier to compare if we group them into 10 and count the remainder. 

There are more dogs than bones. 
There are fewer bones than dogs. 

Compare the cupcakes and sweets using more and fewer.

There are more cupcakes than sweets. 
There are fewer sweets than cupcakes. 

Compare the pink birds and ladybirds using more and fewer.

There are fewer pink birds than ladybirds. 
There are more ladybirds than pink birds.
