LC: to be able to measure the perimeter of 2-D shapes.

Your teacher will provide you with some squared paper. You will need to find 4 coloured pencils while you wait.

You need to create a shape by colouring in the squares. At least one side of the squares must meet another square in order to form a figure. It can be any figure you like! I will show you one first.

Perimeter: the perimeter is what you get when you find the total length around a shape.

Your teacher will add this to the maths working wall for you!

The total length around the shape is ___; So, the perimeter of the shape is ___.

Using your iPad, have a go at the next 2 questions and write the answers on your whiteboards:

Now, let's look at these together.

If you have finished, draw some 2D shapes on your squared paper and work out the perimeter of the shapes.

You can test the person sitting next to you if they are finished too!
