Maths

During this lesson, we will be looking at 2 different operations.

First, we will be looking at multiplication (grid method).

Then, we will be looking at division (bus stop method).

Multiplication

When using the grid method, we follow the following steps:

  1. Partition the numbers and insert them into the grid.
  2. Multiply each number by the 1 digit number.
  3. Add up the boxes to find your answer.

Let's look at an example together.

Our multiplication calculation is:

26 x 5 = ?

Step 1

Partition the numbers and insert them into the grid.

Step 2

Multiply each number by the 1 digit number.

5 x 20 =

5 x 6 =

Insert the answers into the grid.

Step 3

Add up the boxes to find your answer.

100 + 30 = 130

This means:

26 x 5 = 130
