L.C. To be able to divide 1- or 2-digit numbers by 100.
How can Charles share the soap equally to make 100 equal packs?
Discuss this in pairs.
Can we use what we learnt from dividing a whole number by 10 to dividing a whole number by 100?
Make note, the numbers stays the same but the place values change.
10 bars shared by 100 packs = 0.1 bar per pack.
Now, we need to look at the remaining 4 bars.
We start by splitting each bar into 100.
Each pack would get one hundredths of each bar.
4 x 1 hundredth = 0.04.
We now add these together to find our answer.
Look at the model below.
Make sure the place values line up before adding.
