LC- To solve problems using ratio.
Now we understand how to compare quantities using ratio, let's try to solve problems.
Have a look at the following question. How would you go about solving it?
What strategies did you use?
Let's look at the 'Let's learn' to see what they did.
Which strategy do you think is most useful?
You can use the guess and check strategy (trial and error) and you may get there eventually but it does take time and there is more chance of mistakes.
Using the bar model makes things clearer as you can, 'see the problem'.
We will work through the guided examples together. The last one is tricky. Think about it. It is important to know the ' difference'.
Now work on the question in MNP, pages 29 and 30.
If you are confident, then challenge yourself to complete the ratio questions on the following pages with no more input. If you want to look at the text books for support then please ask your teacher to get you a copy.
