LC: To read and analyse fiction in order to plan their own versions.

Today, we are going to discuss and analyse how Clive King has written each chapter of his story.

Each chapter of his story follows a similar pattern.

Clive King’s novel features:

  • Nearly every chapter is its own short story
  • Each chapter takes place in separate periods of time
  • Chapters usually begin and end at Granny’s house
  • Each chapter usually has a problem and resolution
  • In each chapter, Stig usually enters into the adventure in some way
  • The chapters link to each other in some way through familiar settings like Granny's house or the dump/chalk pit

Your Task

Analyse the key features of Clive King’s story by looking at the shortened version of Chapter 5 (The Snargets) which is our T4W text.
