LC: To discuss and record ideas for planning.

LC: To gather information from a range of non-fiction texts.

First Challenge

In order for you to be able to create a newspaper recount on your hybrid animal, you will need to have enough information on your hybrid animal.

You will need to gather content on your hybrid animal and record your notes in your exercise book.

Your teacher will do this alongside you for their rhinophant hybrid animal.

Here are some key questions to help you narrow your research:

1) What types of things would it do?

For this, you will need to research into BOTH animals it has been created from.

Your teacher's hybrid animal is a rhinophant. They will have to research into what rhinoceros and elephants do.

2) Where would you find the hybrid animal?

For this, you will need to research into BOTH animals it has been created from.

Your teacher's hybrid animal is a rhinophant. They will have to research into where a rhinoceros and elephant can be found.

3) Who will witness the discovery of your hybrid animal and what could they say?

For this, you will need to think carefully about who would look after your animal, want to visit it and where it lives to help you decide this.

Your teacher's hybrid animal is a rhinophant. They will have to ask the following questions and collect answers:

Who would want to see an elephant and rhinoceros?

Who would look after an elephant or rhinoceros?

Who would visit the area where it lives?

What could each eyewitness say?

4) Who would study these animals?

For this, you will need to think carefully about the scientists who study the animals your hybrid has been made from.

Your teacher's hybrid animal is a rhinophant. They will need to research the scientists who study rhinoceros and elephants.
