LC: To write a reorientation for the newspaper report.

LC: To edit and improve writing checking grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Let's orally rehearse the reorientation of the newspaper recount 'Flying Toads Toured the Town!'

We can use this to support our writing today.

Today, we will be writing the reorientation of our newspaper recounts on the discovery of a hybrid animal.

We will focus on the following skills:

It is written in present tense.

It states what is happening now after the previous recounted events.

You will need to use the last part of your recount planner to help.

This is the recount planner for Flying Toads Toured the Town!

You and your teacher will need to refer back to your recount planners in order to write your newspaper recount on the discovery of a hybrid animal.

Your teacher will now model writing the reorientation to their newspaper recount using the Flying Toads Toured the Town! text as a model. As they write each part, they will stop to allow you to write your part too before moving on.

Scaffold to support your writing.

It has been taken from Flying Toads Toured the Town!

Complete this task on the newspaper recount template you have been using for the past two days. You need to continue on from where you last finished. Don't forget to indent.

Once you have completed this, go back to the beginning of your  newspaper report and check spelling, punctuation and grammar. Use previously taught strategies to check your work.

Tips:

Read your sentences aloud to check that they make sense. Remember to read the sentences as they are written. Don't add words in that are not there.

Using kung fu punctuation may help you to spot where you have made any punctuation errors or missed punctuation.

Clap syllables to help you spell words, check spellings using a dictionary or look in your spelling pack/book.

Finally, you may include a picture with a caption to help describe the recount events.
