LC: To write the headline, orientation and the first part of the main body of a newspaper recount.
Let's orally rehearse the first three parts of the newspaper recount 'Flying Toads Toured the Town!'
We can use this to support our writing today.
Today, we will be writing the first three parts of our newspaper recounts on the discovery of a hybrid animal.
We will focus on the following skills:
The recount is written in past tense.
The headline is short and snappy and uses alliteration.
The orientation details the who, what, when and where.
The essential information is in time order using language of sequencing and fronted adverbials.
You will need to use the first half of your recount planner to help.
This is the recount planner for Flying Toads Toured the Town!
You and your teacher will need to refer back to your recount planners in order to write your newspaper recount on the discovery of a hybrid animal.
Your teacher will now model writing the first three parts to their newspaper recount using the Flying Toads Toured the Town! text as a model. As they write each part, they will stop to allow you to write your part too before moving on.
