LC: To discuss and record ideas for planning.

Now we have learned the structure of the newspaper

recount 'Flying Toads Toured the Town!', we are going to start thinking about writing our own newspaper recount using the model to help us.

Before we can create our newspaper recount, we will have to generate ideas.

FIRST TASK

You need to think about what you are going to report on.

We’ve already looked at flying toads!

What would make exciting news?

Perhaps, discovering something that has never been seen before would be exciting.

What if a new hybrid animal was discovered?

We’ve already learned about new species being discovered like the Pine Rockland Trapdoor Spider. It would be pretty exciting news!

Create ideas for a new hybrid animal.

Come up with at least three ideas.

Which species of animal could you mix in order to create a new hybrid?

Please be realistic!

I'm sure mixing a bird with a crocodile would not work as they belong to different animal groups.

-Think about which animal group they belong to

(reptile, amphibian, mammal, bird, fish, arachnids)

SECOND TASK

Now you have got a hybrid animal, you need to start thinking about how you are going to report and recount the news of its discovery.

Think about the following:

Who discovered the hybrid animal?

What was the hybrid animal doing when it was discovered?

When was it discovered?

Where was it discovered?

If you need to do some research on where you could find this animal, you may do so.

This work can be recorded in your exercise book.
