LC: To understand what a headline is and generate headlines.
If the events in the ‘Tuesday’ story were announced in the newspapers, how would you grab the reader’s attention?
You would make sure you had a catchy headline.
What is a headline?
A headline is a heading at the top of an article in a magazine or report.
Look at these headlines and think about how they catch the reader’s attention.
To catch the reader's attention, headlines can include alliteration and similes, and be short and snappy with a clear point.
YOUR TASK
Imagine the events in the 'Tuesday' story are announced in the newspapers.
Create catchy headlines for the story.
You need to create three different headlines at the very least.
