Grammar

Today we are going to revisit a skill we have looked at before in Year 2. We will be learning how to use an apostrophe for contraction (making something shorter).

Let us (let's) watch this video to remind ourselves.

When we write a sentence using the two words, we call this the expanded form.

can not come out to play because I have homework to do.

When we remove one or more of the letters and replace them with an apostrophe, we call this the contracted form because we have made it shorter.

can't come out to play because I have homework to do.

Now it is (it's) your turn. Can you match the contracted form to the expanded form?
