Similes 

Similes compare two things using 'like' or 'as'.

They help to create an image in the reader's head. 

 

The snowflakes sparkled like diamonds.

Miss Hall was as busy as a bee.

 

Find the simile in the second paragraph of Flying Toads Toured the Town! newspaper recount. 

 

Did you spot it?

Firstly, it was reported that the common toads were treating their lilypads like fighter jets.

The lilypads are being compared to a fighter jet because of the way they are moving. 

 

 

Innovated Example:

Yesterday, it was reported that a saltwater crocodile was laughing like a spotted hyena at Chester Zoo which is very peculiar.
