Apostrophes for singular possession

Yesterday, we began to explore the use of apostrophes to show possession.

If something belongs to one person/animal/object we add 's to the end of the name of the person/animal/object.

It is important to know who is in possession of something.

Look at the sentences below.

Which uses the apostrophe correctly?

The doctors watch and pen's dropped on the floor.

The doctor's watch and pens dropped on the floor.

The second sentence is correct as the watch and the pens belong to the doctor.

The first is incorrect as the apostrophe has been misplaced. By placing the apostrophe after pen (pen's), it suggest something belongs to the pen.

The hotel's beds are very comfortable.

The hotels beds are very comfortable.

The first sentence is correct as the beds belong to the hotel.

The second is placed incorrectly as the hotel doesn't belongs to a bed.

On Seesaw, you have been given some sentences. You must circle the sentence that uses the apostrophe correctly to show possession.
