L.C. To use maps to locate countries of Europe and major cities.

Using the Google map link and map below, can you answer these questions?

What continent do we live in?

What group of islands do we belong to?

What country do we live in?

What is our capital city?

You will be using the map below to complete the following task.

Can we use Google maps to locate Italy?

Look at the shape of the country. How can we use this?

Can you locate this on a new map?

Now can we colour this in on the map above and label this?

Using Google maps can you colour in and label the following countries?

UK - Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland  - Light Green

Denmark - Red

Sweden - Yellow

Norway - Pink

Iceland - Blue

Finland - Purple

Now, can you accurately mark and label the capitals of each of these countries.

Do you notice anything about the way Google maps distinguishes between a capital city and other cities?

Your teacher will model this with one of the capital cities.
