Before the holidays, we looked at the directions LEFT and RIGHT.

Then we learned in Geography how to use a compass which has different directions: NORTH, SOUTH, EAST and WEST.

We used these to direct Katie Morag around the Isle of Struay.

Today we are going to use these directions again to navigate (move) around the landmarks in Burnley.

What is a landmark?

A landmark is something that is easily recognisable such as building or a statue but it could be a physical feature such as a hill, mountain or waterfall.

Let's take a look at some of the recognisable landmarks in Burnley.
