Do you remember the story we read called The Day the Crayons Quit? The one where all the crayons wrote to Duncan to tell them how they were feeling.

Well, today, we are going to learn to write letters correctly.

The crayons wrote to Duncan informally. They were quite relaxed, some were friendly, others not so much. Did you know there are different ways to write letters depending on who you are writing to?

Today we are going to write formally to your new teacher. This needs to be more academic, using a professional tone. So instead of starting with Hey! we will use Dear ...

You've learned many skills about different sentence types during Year 2, so this is your opportunity to show off. You could ask them questions about what they are looking forward to next year. You might exclaim how you are feeling.

Talk with your partner (or a parent at home) about what you would like to say to your new teacher before sharing your ideas with everyone.

If you are working at home and you didn't get to meet your new teacher on Friday, we now know that Mrs Pickup will be teaching 2R and Miss Tariq will be teaching 2F next year.

Now follow the instructions on the video by clicking on the picture.

When writing your address, use the school address rather than your home address for safety.

If you are working at home, send a picture of your letter to your teacher and she will make sure it goes to your new teacher ahead of returning in September.
