LC: To use active reading strategies

Before we begin reading a book, we often have a look at the cover and read the blurb. By doing this we can begin to use some of our active reading strategies: making predictions; activating background knowledge; gaining an understanding of literal information and making simple inferences.

Let's have a look at the following book together and begin to use our reading strategies. We can annotate our thoughts around the front and back covers.

Now, you are going to use your active reading strategies to do the same with our class novel - The London Eye Mystery. Stick the front and back covers in your book once you have written the date and LC. You need to annotate around the pictures like we did for Goodnight Mr Tom.
