Early Morning Work

For the last couple of days, we have been looking at the use of semi-colons and dashes. Today you are going to concentrate on using semi-colons or dashes for separating two main clauses ( simple sentences). 

 

Please have a look at the sentence starters below. At the end of each sentence add a semi-colon or dash and another RELATED main clause.

 

When I say related, I mean that the bits of information are related to each other.

 

FOR EXAMPLE -THESE CLAUSES ARE NOT RELATED!

 

My favourite colour is blue; I finished reading a book today.

 

THESE ONES ARE.

 

My favourite colour is blue; I don't like yellow.

Please record your answers in your book whether you are in school or at home. You teacher will want to see your sentences when you return to school.
