Welcome to Autumn 2
English
In Literacy, we will be reading the story of Macbeth. We will be using Talk for Writing to learn part of 'Macbeth' so we can write our own version. We will identify new vocabulary and phrases from the story and identify adverbials that link ideas across paragraphs. In reading, we will be focusing sequencing events, retrieving information and making inferences around characters. Towards the end of half term, we will be focusing on playscripts linked to Macbeth.
Through the story of Macbeth, we will be exploring the concept of Power and discussing whether power is a good thing.
Maths
In Maths, we will be continuing with multiplication and division and using our knowledge of these concepts to solve word problems. Towards the end of half term we will be focusing on the concept of statistics, more specifically, graphs.
Art
In Art we will focus on images of the witches from Macbeth. First, we will be sketching using different techniques and shadows to formulate a drawing. Moving on from this, we will be looking at size and the proportion of characters and using these to create a digital art final piece on Sketches.
Geography
In Geography, we will be learning about South America. We will locate where South America is on a map and locate some of the major cities. We will gain an understanding of the different climate zones and the affect they have on the country. We will describe human and physical features of South America.
RE
In R.E we will be answering the question 'Where can we find guidance about how to live our lives?'.
We will learn about Islam and what guides Muslims. We will learn about the importance of the Quran and Prohphet Muhammad as guidance for Muslims. Finally we will learn about the special Night of Power.
Computing
In Computing, we are going to be learning about Online safety and how to make the right choice when using technology. We will also be learning about Information Technology being able to analyse and evaluate information and how to understand how search results are selected and ranked.
We will create partner balances using matched and mirrored shapes. Perform counter and tension balances, creating sequences with our partners. We will perform sequences and develop them onto apparatus.
We will demonstrate a forehand and backhand shot with consistency. We will direct a shuttlecock to partners to perform rallies. We will also demonstrate simple tactics and incorporate points in a game situation.
Music
In Music, we will be using the Charanga scheme to learn about how music can affect our emotions and listen to a variety of different musical styles. We will be thinking about 'How does music connect us with our past?'
British Values and Rights Respecting
We will continue to develop our understanding of British Values linking them through our learning and in our assembly times. This half term we will focus on Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and the Rule of Law.
We will focus on Articles 13 and 19 and link these to Anti-bullying week. We know that every child should feel free to express their thoughts and opinions and every child has the right to be protected from violence.
LOTC and ECO
