Year’s 1 & 2 Enrichment Blurbs
Autumn 1
Little Chef’s:
Come and join little chefs club and become experts at chopping, stirring, and cooking. At little chefs club you will make fun and exciting meals and snacks which you will take home to enjoy! Will you become the next master chef?
Fantasy Football:
Come and join Fantasy Football and become masters of dribbling, passing, shooting, attacking, and defending. You will participate in drills which include free kick and penalty shoot outs and will gain self-confidence, determination, teamwork. A Fantasy Fives Football league will also run throughout the five weeks.
Drama:
Do you like playing games? Do you like performing with your friends? Do you like having fun? Then drama club is for you. We will be creating performances and putting together a final showcase!
Sketches:
Use your artistic talents and creative imagination on a digital device to enhance your skills with various artistic techniques and tools all on your iPad.
Nature Detectives:
Come and explore our amazing school grounds in Autumn through lots of fun outdoor activities! You will:
- Go on a bug hunt and record which bugs you can find in our school grounds in Autumn
- Whilst exploring, you will collect mud, sticks and leaves to make leaf faces and muddy smiles on tree trunks
- Take part in the Autumn leaf ID challenge
- Make leaf boats - will they float?
- Create your own Autumn spotter book
At the end of the 5 weeks, you will take home your book to take out with your family
Community Willow Weaver:
Be the next super willow weaver. Use the natural resource of willow from the school grounds. Form shapes and creations, using your imagination. Develop your new 3D art skills by designing and making.
Stoneyholme Snappers:
Do you want to have fun and learn more about photography? Then you will love our Stoneyholme Snappers club where you can have fun learning about pictures and take part in photography activities and challenges. This is a unique opportunity for you to learn about how photography works. You will be introduced to different types of cameras/equipment, composing photo scenes, and editing pictures.
Wildlife Watches (Y2):
Come and explore what amazing wildlife live in our school grounds and learn about ways we can attract more wildlife, make shelters, and feed them in the Autumn. You will:
- Go on hunts to find what amazing wildlife are living in our school grounds in Autumn
- Research what type of shelter they need and what foods they eat
- Create shelters and feeders around our school grounds for them
- Monitor and record wildlife activity in and around the shelters and feeders
- You will also be responsible for monitoring and looking after the KS1 bug hotel and wildlife area you helped to create in Year 1.
At the end of the 5 weeks, you will receive a ‘Stoneyholme Wildlife Watcher’ certificate for observing and caring for the wildlife in our school grounds this term.
Lego We Do:
We will have lots of fun by:
Building and coding a Star Wars robot
Using Motion sensors to detect objects
Taking part in scientific experiments
Using tilt sensors
We will also use our computational thinking, collaborate with others, use tinkering skills to change things to see what happen and persevere!
Buzzing Book Club:
Would you like to travel to places you've never been before and meet new 'friends' along the way? Do you want to experience the twists, turns and thrills of adventure? Do you want to be drawn into imaginary worlds where the impossible becomes possible? Do you love reading or would you like to love reading? If so, then our Buzzing Book Club is the one for you. Be prepared to jump into the unknown and unexpected!
Busy Builders:
Stem Building Challenges using different materials and Lego to encourage imagination and have fun. Participate in exciting challenges which include concepts such as, science, maths, and engineering.
Feel Good friends
Feel Good Friends is an exciting new club! Come and join Pippin Pocket, Tiggy Tutu, Betty Brightstar and Roly Rainbow. Fun activities that will have children sharing, caring, laughing, and smiling! Helping them to gain confidence and self-esteem, recognising the unique qualities in themselves and why they are special
Garage Band:
Come and learn the intuitive tools, make it simple to play instruments, and add your voice, loops, or sound effects. Make songs that reinforce vocabulary, record poetry verses, or compose soundtracks for your own documentary films
We will work on the following skills:
Tennis:
Come and join Tennis club, we will have lots of fun learning new skills such as: throwing, catching, serving, forehand and back hand shots. We will work hard on our technique, footwork, and power to build us up to playing rallies with our friends.
Paper Craft:
Come to Paper Craft club and learn new basic skills of manipulating paper by, cutting, folding, rolling, curling, and feathering.
