Science enquiry is what children do in order to answer scientific questions about the world around them. Purposeful science enquiry happens when children are motivated to answer a question that matters to them. To further support the children with scientific enquiry, they are going to participate in the CREST Awards.
Year Two will complete the following eight Star challenges to earn their CREST Award.
Animal Adventure | Plant Detectives |
Tea Bag Trouble | Starting Sounds |
Brilliant Bubbles | Speedy Scooters |
Sniffly Sneezes | Scrap Yard Scraps |
Plant Detectives Challenge
‘The plants were smaller when they did not grow in the soil because they get nutrients from the soil to grow bigger.’
‘The wind and rain combined to help the plants grow on the roof, to blow the soil.’
‘I think the birds dropped the seeds and dirt on the roof and that is why trees grow there.’
‘I wonder if people in ancient times planted seeds there and someone has put the pavement on top. Maybe the cracks have let the rain in and the plants have started to grow.’
