Success for Stoneyholme at Green Hero Awards

On Friday 29th June, Mr Ariss, Mrs Cooney and 6 budding scientists from years 3 to 5 were invited to the Green Hero Awards at the University of Central Lancashire’s Science Fest.  The school had been nominated and short listed from 70 other schools in Lancashire for the Outdoor Skills School Award.

The criteria for the award are detailed below:

This award is for schools that have worked hard to provide pupils with the chance to regularly spend time outdoors, all year round. This could either be as part of the usual school day or in voluntary after school clubs or lunch time clubs. Applicants should outline different areas of the curriculum they have covered and enhanced by spending time outside and any innovative practices they are involved with. Applicants are also encouraged to show any particular commitment adults or children have shown in this area.

The school was awarded first prise in recognition for its continuing efforts in using the outdoors as a stimulus for our children’s learning.

Well Done Everybody!
