Mindful spaces in the classrooms

In EYFS, during our PSHE we have been reading Ruby’s worry. Ruby’s has a worry, but it gets  bigger as she doesn’t talk about it. We discussed what might be a worry and what you need to do when you have a worry.

The children drew their worry and fed it to the worry monsters.

In Year One, we have enjoyed wearing our odd socks and we have been discussing what makes us unique.

In Year One we thought about our feelings and then how the worry monster might be feeling.

In Year Two, we designed odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique as part of Anti-Bullying Week.

Odd sock day helped us to celebrate our uniqueness whilst also showing that we are in it together.

Our Odd Socks

In Year 2, we have linked our learning in RE with our well-being. We have learned how to meditate, what the purpose is and when it might help us. We have also created symbols for peace.

As part of our learning during Children’s Mental Health Week in Year 2, we thought about the quote: ‘with power comes great responsibility’. We thought about ways we could use our power to change and be more responsible citizens.

We have linked our learning about feelings and how to manage them with Article 13: every child has the right to share opinions freely as long as it is within the law and doesn’t hurt anyone.
