Year 2

We traded the beans we had grown for flour from Mr Hussain then he made it into delicious soup.

We thought about what animals you would find in different habitats.

We created our own food chains.

We looked in the school grounds to identify things that are alive, never been alive or not living any more.

We joined in with the RSPB’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2023.

We have been investigating why we need to use soap to wash our hands.

Super Scientists

We have been manipulating malleable materials by bending, stretching, pulling and twisting to make sculptures linked to our work in Art and Literacy.

We identified materials and their properties

We have carried out experiments to test the suitability of a range of materials to make tea bags.

Identifying materials in our school grounds

We have been planting seeds to learn what seeds and bulbs need to grow. We have linked our learning with English by writing instructions for others to follow and growing beanstalks to link with Traditional Tales. We will use what we grow in Spring when we make pizzas as part of our Stemterprise project.

We have been using observational skills and simple equipment to carry out experiments. We have measured the beanstalks in the classrooms and those in the domes before the holidays to see how much they grow and if there are any differences between the two growing environments.
