English

 

In English, we will be learning about Explanations. We will look at the vocabulary used within explanation text. Using the model of the water cycle we will write our own explanation text based on the life cycle of an animal.

Later on in the term we will explore the famous poem 'Jabberwocky' and use this as an inspiration to write our own narratives.

Maths

 

In the beginning of this half term, we are going to continue to focus on Geometry. We will continue learning about different shapes, including triangles, quadrilaterals, regular and irregular polygons and solving problems relating to angles.

Further on in the term, we will move onto learning about positions and movements of shapes.

Towards the end of the term, we will move onto learning our different units of measure and how to convert between different units of measure.

Engineering

 

In Engineering, we will be learning about healthy foods and how to grow our own vegetables to enable us to make a frittata.

STEMterprise

This half term, we have a super exciting project where will be working in groups to set up a farm shop business to design, make and market a new lunch time food product using ingredients we have grown ourselves. We will be making a frittata!

Science

 

This half term we will begin to describe the life cycles of different living things. We will describe the difference between different life cycles of amphibians, mammals, insects and birds. Later on in the term, we will describe the process of reproduction in plants and animals and create a timeline to indicate stages of growth in humans.

 

History

 

In History, we are learning about the Mayan civilisation.

We will learn about who the Mayan's were and how they lived. We will also look at some of their inventions and how they have influenced our world today.  After this we will compare the Mayan inventions with the Greek.

Music

 

We will follow the Charanga scheme. Our unit for the term will be ‘words, meanings and expressions. We will discuss the following question:

How does music shape our lives?

P.E - Striking and Fielding (Cricket)

In Cricket, we will demonstrate bowling overarm with accuracy and consistency. We will learn how to strike a Cricket ball using a Cricket bat. We will also be demonstrating how to catch and throw a Cricket ball when fielding. We will aim to use all the skills and tactics demonstrated and apply them into a modified Cricket game.  

PSHCE

 

In PSHCE, we will be learning about ourselves, growing and changing.
