Writing

Warm up

Read the paragraph below. As our warm up focus for this week is using our proof reading strategies, look for errors in the paragraph below that need correcting.

Today we are going to be writing a play script based on the scene from the story of Macbeth that we focused on in yesterday's lesson. It is very important that we understand the features of a play script, before we start to write.

Step 1

Read the 4 slides below.

These are to remind you of the features that you would see in a play script.

Read the information carefully because this will help prepare you for when you are writing your own.

Step 2

Look at the model below. As you can see, I have used the text from the story to write a play script for the scene.

We need to fill in the blanks using the story on the left to help us.

Let's read the story first and fill in the spaces.

Step 3

Below is the text you are going to be using to help you write your play script.

You need to read the text to help you when writing the play script. You will need to have this open in front of you throughout your task.

The scene has been given the title 'Scene 4 - The Aftermath'.

Step 4

Look at the characters below. They have been identified for you so you know who appears in the scene.

Task

First write a character list to show the reader who appears in the scene.

Then, write out the play script you can see below. As you do, fill in the blank spaces with the character's names, stage direction and dialogue where it is missing.

If you are at home, write the date and LC in your blended learning book and complete the task.

When finished, send a picture of your work to your teacher on SEESAW!
