Step one: read through the 'Saving Motley Wood' story problem.

Can you identify where the dilemma has been written?

Step two: read through your problem part of the plan.

Step three: use the 'Saving Motley Wood' problem and your plan to help you write your own.

Look at Miss Hall's example below to help.

She looked at her plan to help her write.

A few weeks later, Lucy and her parents went out for an evening walk near the meadow that Lucy loved. As they got nearer to the flowering meadow, Lucy noticed something she had never seen before. A huge sign that was four metres wide was displayed. It stated in big, bold letters: ‘FLYING CENTRE COMING SOON TO THIS MEADOW – KEEP OUT.’

“So this is where they are building the flying centre then,” announced Mum.

It’s terrible. This meadow is the food source for endangered tortoiseshell butterflies. If the meadow is built on, it could wipe them out of this area for good,” explained Dad shaking his head.

Lucy had to catch her breath. The shock of this discovery hit her like a strong gust of wind. She began to feel queasy. The flying centre was something she was so enthusiastic about and she wanted it to be built more than anything. However, she also couldn’t imagine her life without this meadow. Thinking about all the magical butterflies and the sweet flowers being trampled on by humans and their building machines distressed her deeply. What could she do?

That evening, she sat quietly on the sofa and pondered until she had made a decision.
