Spring Term 2

Rainbow Fish

Year One have been using their printing skills to create wallpaper to decorate the role play area. I think you will agree they have done an amazing job!


Our story focus this term is 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister.

We have been learning to recite a variety of animal poems.

Year One have been learning how to use a video camera. We have also been learning poetry. 

These videos have been produced by the children with no support from the teachers.

Number and Place Value

   We will be using the outside environment during our maths lessons.  



Shape, Position and Direction


During Science week we listened to some fun stories related to science, told by a storyteller and a scientist.


To be able to identify and name a variety of common animals.

Describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals.

To name animals by what they eat - herbivore, carnivore and omnivore.


We will also be observing the changes across the four seasons.

Year One created some excellent work for the Science Fayre. We have been learning about animals and have observed various types of animals, prepared food for a tortoise, learned lots of new vocabulary and made a non fiction book about the different categories of animals.

We have been printing with a range of hard and soft materials.

We are creating simple printing blocks and designing repetitive patterns.


Year One have learned their address this term. We were able to 

type our address using the computers and then post the letter that our teachers' had written to us.

We were so excited when they arrived at our houses!
