Rainbow Fish

Year One will be reading the story of the fish with shining scales!


We had great fun reading on World Book Day. Mrs Salha had made sure we had our token books. We had plenty of choice; it was great!



Our story focus this term will be 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister.

We will learn to recite a variety of animal poems.

Year One will learn how to use a video camera. We will be able to use the camera to record ourselves reciting the poetry.

   We will be using the outside environment during our maths lessons.

We love learning maths outside the classroom


To be able to identify and name a variety of common animals.

Describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals.

To name animals by what they eat - herbivore, carnivore and omnivore.


We will also be observing the changes across the four seasons.


We will print with a range of hard and soft materials.

We will create simple printing blocks and designing repetitive patterns.


We visited Blackburn museum to learn how to ask questions about the past using artefacts.

Year One will learn where they live and be able to explain their journey to and from school.


Understand what algorithms are; how they are implemented as programs on digital devices; and that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions.

Create and debug simple programs.

Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of simple programs.


To make good use of a range of resources when improvising on various instruments.


RE - the Easter story
