LC: To record information from a range of non fiction texts.
You are going to be creating a discussion text on: 'Are humans really dealing with the plastic pollution problem?'
Your teacher will be creating a discussion text on: 'Are humans really dealing with global warming?'
In order to create a discussion text, you will need to collect a range of information on your topic so that you can create viewpoints (points) and have evidence to support the points you make.
Make sure you do the following reading skills:
- Scan for dates, numbers and names to locate fact-based information

- Getting the gist of each paragraph of information to help you decide if it is appropriate to your question
Does the information link to the plastic pollution problem and help you discuss it?
- Record the information you have found in note form
