LC: To orally retell stories.

During the autumn term, you have learned about two stories: Beowulf and The Snow Queen. Because you know these stories so well, your challenge is to orally retell them using language of retelling.

Language of Retelling

 In the beginning …

Subsequently …

On the other side of the …

Back at …

Eventually...

With hindsight …

 Lastly …

In the end …

Listen to Miss Hall retelling part of The Enormous Crocodile story.

Can you hear the language of retelling?

What else does Miss Hall do when she is retelling a story?

Now it's time for you to begin!

To refresh your memory, you can have a read through the T4W Beowulf and Snow Queen texts before you begin. The stories should be told in your own words. Don't try to memorise the whole of the texts otherwise you will run out of time.

READ THROUGH ONE TEXT FIRST AND PRACTISE ORALLY RETELLING IT CONFIDENTLY BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE OTHER.
