What do you think of when you hear the word commitment?

Picture 1

Collect your thoughts in a spider diagram like the above. I have given you a word I would associate with commitment to help you start.

Next Task

One definition of commitment is being dedicated (giving a lot of time or effort) to a cause or activity.

Time to think…

With this definition in mind, how do you show commitment to

1. Yourself?

2. Your community (neighbours, school, religion)?

3. Developing a skill (like creativity or teamwork)?

4. A person (friend, mum, dad, brothers or sisters, teachers)?

Create a piece of writing on how you show commitment in different areas and parts of your life. Reflect on the four areas above when writing.

LOG ONTO PURPLE MASH AND START THE 2Write 2DO IN ORDER TO CREATE YOUR WRITING PIECE ON COMMITMENT. DO NOT HAND IT IN YET, JUST SAVE IT PLEASE.

Use some of the sentence openers below to help you structure your writing:

Commitment is …   because…

I show commitment through …

On many occasions  I …

Sometimes I …

All the time I …

It is important to show commitment as …

Final Task

Now you have looked at commitment in your life and its importance, I would like you to reflect on the following questions:

Is there something you would like to be better at?

What could you do to improve your commitment to a certain area of your life?

How much time and effort would you need on this in order to be focused and able to make a difference to this area of your life?

What qualities do you think you develop from being committed?

When you are happy with your reflections, return back to the 2write 2do and add your thoughts on each of the questions. Once you have finished, hand in your 2do.
